Research Project on Covid Care with Internet of Things

Covid IOT

During the zenith of the Covid-19 Pandemic, healthcare workers were stretched thin trying to keep up with an ever-increasing influx of patients. In such circumstances, front line employees are unable to directly monitor and care for each and every patient.

Intravenous treatment

Intravenous treatment is a medical procedure that involves injecting fluids, drugs, and nutrients into a patient’s vein. IV treatment is widely used to re-hydrate and deliver nutrients, and it is critical in assisting a person’s recovery.

IV drips, on the other hand, must be checked and refilled on a regular basis. The fluid flow must also be metered based on the patient and their condition. This IoT Intravenous Fluid Monitoring system employs a weight sensor to detect when the fluid level in the IV Infusion container drops and sends the information over the internet.

Internet of things

When the system recognizes that the bottle is empty, an IoT warning is sent. The following are some of the benefits of the IoT Intravenous Fluid Monitoring and Alerting system:

IOT Online Transmission, as well as automatic IV bag monitoring and alert data logging
Simple to use
Allows a single person to manage several patients more easily.

Working of Project

To provide this capability, the system uses a Weight Sensor, an Arduino mega microprocessor, a Wifi transmitter, and an LCD display. This enables a reliable and automatic IV monitoring system.
A tiny stand supports the Weight Sensor. To balance the stand, a cross section is built at the bottom. The weight sensor hook is suspended on the stand by a thin rod that stretches from the top.

At initially, the weight sensor is employed to determine the weight of an empty IV bag. This is referred to as “empty weight.” When the IV bag is hanging from the sensor stand, it drips continuously until the fluid is exhausted.

This data is continually processed and processed by the controller. On an LCD monitor, the current level of the IV bag is also indicated. This data is also sent to the IoT server through the Wifi Module. This level is shown on the IOT server’s web interface. When the level goes below a specified threshold, the LCD display as well as the online dashboard indicate that the bag is empty.
